On examination there was a superficial, painless, mobile, smooth, firm mass in the superior aspect of the right orbit. The mass measured 1.0 cm in diameter; it did not displace the eye, and the ocular motility was intact. The remainder of the ophthalmological examination was normal. The clinical diagnosis was that of an anterior orbital dermoid cyst; further imaging was not obtained. The patient was cleared for surgery by his pediatrician.
