Treatment
The patient was treated with focal laser adjacent and temporal to the left optic disc followed by intravitreal injection of 0.4 ml of 100% perfluoropropane gas and face down posturing for one week. On follow-up at 3 months, he reported resolution of his symptoms, and his visual acuity improved to 6/9 (20/30), which remained stable at six months. OCT at six months post treatment showed that the outer layer detachment was absent with central 1 mm mean thickness of 479 microns. The schisis-like separation of the retinal layers, however, was still present (Figure 4).
